Move over, "Young Guns". There's a new clique in the House of Representatives.
They've dubbed themselves the " House Hotshots", and they're raring to prove their worth in the current 20th Congress.
The Hotshots are composed of Tingog Party-list Rep. Andrew Julian Romualdez, 25; FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Rep. Brian Poe, 33; Batangas 6th district Rep. Ryan Recto, 29; and Negros Occidental 3rd district Rep. Javier Miguel "Javi" Benitez, 30. Their average age is just over 29 years old.
All four neophyte congressmen finished their three-day Executive Course on Legislation Wednesday, July 9.
They gathered for a working lunch Wednesday to exchange ideas and insights on policy-making, public service, and good governance.
"As first-term lawmakers, the four discussed takeaways from their ongoing Executive Course on Legislation, with a focus on aligning legislative priorities with national development goals under the Marcos administration," read a statement Wednesday from Tingog Party-list.
"The meeting also served as a venue to explore collaboration on key policy reforms, district development strategies, and accountability measures in the next three years," it added.
The common denominator of the quartet are their accomplished legislator-parents. Rep. Romualdez is the son of Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez, Rep. Poe is the son of former senator Grace Poe, Rep. Recto is the son of former senator Ralph Recto, and Rep. Benitez is the son of Bacolod City lone district Rep. Albee Benitez.
The Hotshots "graduated" in plenary from their executive course after the conduct of a mock session.
