Former president Rodrigo Duterte has already left his “last wishes” to Vice President Sara Duterte, asking her to have him cremated in the Netherlands if he dies there.

This was revealed by the Vice President during an interview outside the Scheveningen Prison in The Hague, where numerous Duterte supporters regularly gather, on Tuesday, July 8.
“Nagbigay na siya ng kanyang mga huling habilin. Sabi niya, kung saan daw siya mamatay, doon daw siya i-cremate (He gave his last wishes. He said wherever he dies, he wants to be cremated there),” she said.
“Kung mamatay daw siya dito sa Netherlands, huwag na daw iuwi yung kanyang katawan sa Pilipinas. Ipa-cremate lang daw siya dito (If he dies here in the Netherlands, he asked not to bring his body back to the Philippines and just have him cremated here),” she added.
But younger Duterte told her father that they’ll have to talk about that matter some other time because she is not pro-cremation.
She also assured that it is “natural” to talk about her father’s death wishes because he is already in the advance age of 80 years old.
While she noted that her father has lost a lot of weight, the Vice President also shared that his skin has improved a lot.
He, however, was “not in the mood” when she visited on Tuesday and his only message to Filipinos was: “No guts, no glory.”
The Vice President also expressed concern about Honeylet Avanceña’s, her father’s common-law wife, plan to sell the couple’s property in Matina, Davao City.
“As a daughter, iniisip ko lang saan na titira si (dating) pangulong Duterte kung ibebenta nila, kung uuwi siya sa Davao City? So isa yun sa mga concerns namin (I am also thinking where [former] president Duterte will live if they will see, if he can return to Davao City? So, that’s one of my concerns),” Duterte said.
The status of the property is “co-ownership”, she explained, because it was acquired when her father and Avanceña were living in together.
The official arrived in The Hague on July 5 because she wanted to maximize the time allowed to visit her father. Her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, is also there and had recently given an update about her former husband.
But asked if her mother and father have reconciled, Duterte said they are merely friends now.
The Vice President will be in The Hague until July 23 and would then be in South Korea on July 28 for a “Free Duterte Rally.”
She will not attend President Marcos’ fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28.
