Drunk construction worker nabbed for raping minor in QC
A construction worker allegedly under the influence of alcohol and illegal drugs was arrested for raping a 17-year-old girl in Quezon City, police reported on Wednesday, July 9.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspect as “Jivie,” 32. He was apprehended by officers from Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13) on Saturday, July 5.
According to authorities, the victim was walking on her way home in one of the subdivisions in Barangay Bagong Silangan at around 11:20 p.m. on Saturday when the suspect approached and held her at knife point.
The victim said the suspect then forcibly dragged her into a dark and isolated area where she was raped.
After the sexual assault, the victim gave the suspect money, hoping that he would leave. However, he demanded more, prompting her to convince him to bring her to a nearby convenience store to withdraw additional cash.
Inside the store, the victim was able to seek help from the cashier and police officers from PS-13 who were patrolling the area. This led to the immediate arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the kitchen knife used in the crime.
Authorities said the suspect was charged before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on July 6 for violating Republic Act 8353 or the Anti-Rape Law of 1997.
