BACOLOD CITY – The Department of Health-Negros Island Region-Center for Health Development (DOH-NIR-CHD) inaugurated on Tuesday, July 8, the first DOH wellness clinic in the Visayas in a popular mall here.
Dr. Mary Ann Palermo-Maestral, Undersecretary of Health for the UHC Health Services Cluster-Area III (Visayas), along with Dr. Razel Nikka Hao, Regional Director of DOH-NIR-CHD; Dr. Joan Cerada, medical center chief of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), Mayor Greg Gasataya, and SM City Bacolod media relations manager May Castro led the event.
This initiative is being carried out in partnership with CLMMRH, with hospital medical specialists scheduled to provide services during designated hours.
DOH health workers are on-site to conduct general health screenings and offer nutrition services, supported by students from various nursing local schools.
This is the first DOH wellness hub in the Visayas and second in the country.
It aims to promote health and wellness even before illness begins, bringing closer the health services to the people.
Strategically located on the third floor, Government Service Express Area, North Wing, the clinic offers accessible and free wellness services to the public from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It provides counseling, physical assessments, telekonsulta assistance, general and OB-Gyne consultations, nutrition counseling, and pediatric wellness counseling.
This wellness hub inside the mall is a bold step toward preventive health, serving a shared space where health meets the everyday lives of the people.
It has a health lounge designed not just for waiting, but also as a venue for health promotion, where visitors can read educational materials, watch health videos, join small group wellness sessions, and participate in interactive health talks.
The lounge also includes a kid’s corner to entertain children while their parents consult with health professionals and a safe space for group discussions that encourage community involvement in health awareness activities.
It had its soft opening on June 30 and now operates in full swing, offering a wide range of services to improve the health and well-being of residents in this city and surrounding cities and municipalities.
The first in-a-mall DOH wellness hub is located at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
