“Siguro tumingin siya sa salamin pag sinasabi niya yan stop na ang pamumulitika kasi sila ang namumulitika. Ang ginagawa lang namin lahat ay sumasagot kami (Maybe he should look in the mirror when he’s saying to stop politicking because they are the ones engaged in it. What we’re doing is merely responding to them),” she said in a chance interview with supporters in The Hague on Monday, July 7.
The Vice President arrived in the Netherlands over the weekend to visit her father, detained former president Rodrigo Duterte.
Turning to former presidential spokesman and lawyer Harry Roque, the official pointed out how he was also a “victim” of Marcos’ politicks because he’s a known ally and close lawyer of the former president.
Roque is currently staying in the Netherlands, where he is seeking political asylum, amid questions about his ties to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in the Philippines.
“So wala naman kaming ginagawang atake. Ang sa aming lahat ay sagot at depensa. So, sila ang tumigil (So, we don’t attack. We are on the defense. So, they are the ones who should stop),” Duterte said.
“At sila yung nasa administrasyon, sila ang tumigil at sila ang tumutok sa kung ano iyong dapat ibigay para sa taong bayan (They are the administration, they should stop and instead focus what the people need),” she added.
‘No SONA’
She also confirmed that she will not be attending the President’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28 as she will be in The Hague until July 23 and would then be in South Korea on the day of the SONA on July 28 for a “Free Duterte Rally.”
“No SONA for me kasi confirmed na yung Korea natin na Filipino community gathering (because the Filipino community gathering in Korea is already confirmed),” she shared.
The rally is a gathering of abroad-based Filipino supporters of the former president. The rallies call for the elder Duterte’s release from detention and his return to the Philippines.
A “Free Duterte Rally,” which the Vice President attended, was earlier held in Australia. Another one is scheduled in Kuwait on Aug. 8.
