No tropical cyclone inside PAR; 'habagat' to bring rain showers, thunderstorms — PAGASA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, July 8, said no tropical cyclone is currently inside or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
However, PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” will continue to affect the entire country.
While heavy rainfall brought by the habagat is expected to weaken, Badrina noted that isolated thunderstorms remain likely, particularly in the afternoon and evening.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Batanes, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Antique, Aklan, Sultan Kudarat, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant for possible flash floods and landslides, especially during moderate to heavy rainfall or severe thunderstorms.
Badrina also said sea conditions will be moderate to rough along the western and northern seaboards of Northern Luzon.
While no gale warning has been issued, small seacraft are advised to exercise caution.
Elsewhere, seas will be slight to moderate.
