BUTUAN CITY – Police have arrested two men wanted for the murder of a 24-year-old male pageant contender in Cagayan de Oro City two years ago.
The suspects were arrested on July 3 in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, police said in a statement Monday.
The suspects aged 35, a nurse, and 37, a former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) employee, were arrested on a warrant for murder with no bail recommended.
They were allegedly involved in a gun-for-hire activities.
The 24-year-old victim, Adriane Rovic Fornillos, was shot dead on May 9, 2023 in the back of the head by an unidentified gunman on 13th St., Barangay Nazareth.
Fornillos was pronounced dead in a hospital.
The suspects are under the custody of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Station 9 for proper disposition.
Two pastors tagged in the killing of Fornillos was arrested in October 2023.
The suspects, one of them identified as Pastor Dimver Andales, were arrested in their church in Barangay Lapasan here through warrants of arrest for murder issued by Judge Marites Filomena Rana Bernales of the Cagayan de Oro City Regional Trial Court Branch 39 with no bail recommended.
PRO-10 Director Police Brig. Gen. Rolino M. Suguilon commended operating units for the arrest of the suspects.
“The arrest of the suspects behind this heinous crime stands as a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice by our police personnel,” he said.
