Pokwang draws flak for 'unsolicited advice' to Fyang Smith

Fans were quick to gang up on Pokwang after her public reminder to Fyang Smith went viral.

TV host-comedienne Pokwang is under fire from netizens after she gave unsolicited advice to Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 Big Winner Fyang Smith—based on a spliced video that made the rounds online.

The now-viral clip resurfaced during the PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition Big Night last July 5.

In it, Fyang is seen saying that no other PBB season could top their batch:

“Alam mo, kahit ilang batch pa 'yan, walang makakatalo sa batch namin. Hello, Gen 11. Breaking, highest (concurrent views), hello?”

That statement triggered Pokwang, who shared this blunt comment:

“My God iha, 21 years na ako sa showbiz at ang sekreto, BE HUMBLE. Iha, 'yan muna ang pag-aralan. Naka-ilang PBB season na ang nasaksihan ko pero iilan na lang silang active sa showbiz. So iha, please 'wag munang magyabang. Bad 'yan.”

While some applauded Pokwang’s reminder, many netizens—fans of Fyang in particular—called her out, insisting that Fyang’s statement was taken out of context.

According to Fyang's supporters, Pokwang should’ve watched the full clip before sharing her two cents on the matter.

Indeed, based on the original clip, Fyang made clear she was only joking.

“Hindi, joke lang. Kaya walang makakatalo sa batch namin kasi lahat kami very genuine, very authentic... Well, para sa amin lang ’yon... siyempre, batch namin ’yon e.”

One fan wrote on X:

“Ms. @pokwang27, Fyang fans were just trying to respectfully remind you that the video you reacted to was clearly cut… we expected a bit more grace.”

As of writing, Fyang’s camp has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
