Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has ordered the strict implementation of the city's Zero Vendor Policy in designated non-negotiable zones to maintain cleanliness and pedestrian accessibility in key areas of the capital city.
In a Department Heads meeting held Monday morning, Domagoso instructed key departments—specifically the Hawkers Division, the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW), the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB), and the Department of Public Services (DPS)—to ensure that public walkways and vital streets remain clear of illegal vendors.
The Zero Vendor Policy will be strictly enforced in the following areas: Palanca, Blumentritt, Soler, Juan Luna, Linao, Carriedo, Avenida, Plaza Miranda Square, Padre Faura, and Pedro Gil.
“You make sure madaanan ng tao at malinis. Sabihan ang mga vendor, wala akong hinihingi sa kanila kung di maglinis (Make sure the area is passable for pedestrians and kept clean. Tell the vendors, I’m not asking anything from them except to keep their area clean), Domagoso stressed during the meeting.
In addition to the anti-obstruction campaign, the mayor also met with the Health Sector and Finance Team of City Hall to address the shortage of medicines and medical supplies in the Manila Health Department, health centers, and the city’s six LGU-run hospitals.
Efforts are also underway to open the new Baseco Hospital before the end of the year as part of the city government’s commitment to improve healthcare access and facilities to Manila residents.
