Ruben Maria Soriquez, the talented Filipino-Italian film actor, director, and producer, has declared that the year 2025 holds great promise for him. He feels that his long-held dream of making a significant impact in Hollywood is finally within reach.

With a sense of excitement, Ruben shared an array of projects he has just wrapped up, each one a step closer to his cinematic aspirations.

"This year, masaya ako sa mga nakasama ko, sa co-stars ko, because I got a good role in Donald Petrie’s 'The Last Resort', where all my scenes are with the Star Wars star, Daisy Ridley. For me, this is like a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to be in a major Hollywood film, at natupad na ang wish ko," Ruben said.

Although he became part of some Hollywood projects, such as appearing as one of the bad guys alongside lead actor Steven Seagal in General Commander, Ruben felt that this time he was getting a meatier role and better projects.

"Before I was in General Commander, distributed by the Hollywood major Lionsgate, but The Last Resort is my biggest project because of its stellar cast that includes Sam Neill, the star of the first 'Jurassic Park' directed by Steven Spielberg. I just can’t believe I am part of this cast.

"In 2019, I was approached by Academy Award-winning producer Mark Gordon, who wanted me as the kontrabida of Chris Pratt (the star of 'Guardians of the Galaxy') in the project 'Cowboy Viking Ninja'. Too bad the project was canceled due to the Covid pandemic. Anyway, I am sure more opportunities like this will come my way," he said.

The Last Resort is an upcoming romantic comedy film directed by Petrie and written by Karen McCullah. It stars Ridley, Alden Ehrenreich, Tia Carrere, and Sam Neill.

In this movie, Ruben played the role of Signor Rossi, but according to him, he cannot disclose any further about his role due to the non-disclosure agreement he signed.

Ruben continued, "Now I am working on a US TV series as a development producer, and I am also one of the writers. It’s a sci-fi project created by Virginia Travers. We are presently at the funding stage. The US TV series market is highly competitive, and it’s challenging to capture the attention of major players like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.

"Another success this year is to have secured international distribution of the film The Mariana's Web, where I play the lead role. My leading lady here is Alexa Ocampo, with the American distributor Cardinal XD."

He added, "In The Marianas Web, I play the role of a lone Italian farmer who will meet online the woman of his dreams. Directed by Italian director Marco Calvise and shot both in Italy and the Philippines, it’s a horror/sci-fi that is full of surprises.

"It has got the vibes of Netflix’s 'Black Mirror'. The cast is mainly Italian, but with Alexa as the female lead.

"The film is for theatrical release in several countries, but for the US territory, we are negotiating with streaming platforms."

He admitted shifting his focus to his singing career, that's the reason he became temporarily inactive in making movies for about two years.

"Before I finished The Mariana's Web and The Immortal Hunters this 2025 (the second is already streaming in the US), my previous film was Pandemiocracy in 2021. Ito ay dahil noong 2022 at 2023 ay naging abala ako sa paggawa ng aking debut album at sa aking career as a singer.

"Now I am working on my second album, ngunit pati na rin sa iba pang mga proyekto ng pelikula ay busy din ako."

He further explained, "Recently mas focus ako sa acting career ko. But I feel the need to direct again. I have some projects in mind, including documentary films.

"But I also want to direct and star in an action film. I have a good finished script, pero tingnan natin kung ano ang idudulot ng hinaharap.

"After I participated in The Last Resort, I signed up with a better agent for Europe. This could boost my acting career further," he remarked.

Ruben pointed out his current goal, "Throughout my career, I have seen that what I wished for has always come true. I’ve reached all the goals I set for myself. I am happy with what I did, and now, 'come what may' is my motto. I’m not trying hard to reach anything else. I have four talented children, so I also want to spend time developing their talents.

"My daughter, who is three years old and is my lastborn, is amazingly beautiful. She bears a resemblance to Liza Soberano when she was a child. And she’s already showing talent for singing and acting. I’ll still be doing projects, but my children are my focus right now," he said.
