CEBU CITY – Former New People’s Army rebels received cash assistance from the provincial government of Bohol.
Through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), Gov. Aris Aumentado said his administration is strengthening its support for rebels who return to the fold of the law as part of efforts to achieve lasting peace in the province.
Two former rebels received P100,000 each during their recent meeting with the governor at the Capitol in Tagbilaran City. The financial assistance was for their house repairs as the fund came from the National Housing Authority (NHA).
Aumentado, together with the chief of the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD), Carmelita Tecson, and officials from NHA, Lolibel Apatan and Kenneth Trojano, led the turnover of the cash assistance.
Aumentado said the giving of financial aid to former rebels was based on the recommendation by the Capitol and the Joint AFP-PNP Intelligence Committee (JAPIC).
“I want to thank the government for this assistance. This will be a big help for us,” said Ka Edwin (not his real name).
Aumentado encouraged former rebels to support the government, especially efforts on peace and order in the province.
With Aumentado as governor of Bohol, the NHA has provided financial assistance to 22 former rebels from 2023 to 2025.
