Leila Cruz was crowned as Ms. VTV Cup at the conclusion of this year’s International Women’s Volleyball Cup at the Vinh Phuc Gymnasium in Vietnam over the weekend.
The 25-year-old Cruz earned the nod of the judges and spectators as the most beautiful player in the week-long meet.
Aside from the crown, sash, and trophy, Cruz, who plays for the Capital1 Solar Spikers in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), took home $1,500 (around P84,000) for the feat.
The 6-foot-1 outside hitter was one of the key pieces in the Nationals’ campaign on Vietnamese soil, helping the squad to a fourth-place finish after falling to Chinese Taipei, 17-25, 24-26, 22-25, in their battle-for-bronze duel.
With national team debutants Brooke Van Sickle and Tia Andaya on board alongside team captain Jia De Guzman, Alas showed promise despite missing the services of some of its stars in Bella Belen, Alyssa Solomon, and Angel Canino.
