A first alarm fire that broke out inside a house in San Mateo, Rizal, killed a 60-year-old woman along with her daughter and son-in-law early Sunday, July 6.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire started at the victims’ two-story house in Barangay Ampid 1. It was raised to the first alarm at around 2 a.m. and declared fire out at around 2:50 a.m.
According to responders, the 30-year-old daughter and her husband were found inside the bathroom, while the elderly woman was discovered on the stairs. All three were allegedly trapped inside.
Meanwhile, the elderly woman’s 64-year-old husband managed to escape by jumping from the terrace. However, he sustained first-degree burns and is currently being treated at a hospital.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
