Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has issued a strong warning to noisy motorcycle riders and criminals seeking refuge in the city, as authorities intensify efforts to restore peace, order, and cleanliness across the capital city.
“Bawal na bawal na ang mga maingay na tambutso ng motorsiklo sa Maynila! Huwag n’yo kaming subukan, kapag nahuli kayo, walang pakiusap, kumpiskado agad ang tambutso niyo (Loud motorcycle mufflers are strictly prohibited in Manila! Don’t even try us—if you’re caught, there will be no excuses, your muffler will be confiscated immediately),” the mayor said.
He added that the reign of noisy motorcycle exhausts is over, as they cause unnecessary disturbance to the community.
Only motorcycles with engine displacements of 400cc and above are exempt from the ordinance.
Domagoso also addressed criminals attempting to hide or operate in the city, issuing a stern warning.
“Huwag niyo nang balaking gumawa ng masama o magtago dito sa Lungsod ng Maynila, dahil sisiguraduhin naming mapupuyat lang kayo—hahanapin at huhulihin namin kayo kahit saang sulok pa kayo magtago (Don’t even think about committing crimes or hiding here in the City of Manila, because we will make sure you lose sleep—we will find and arrest you no matter where you hide).”
“Kapag nagkasala ka o gumawa ka ng krimen dito sa aming lungsod, siguradong hahabulin ka namin at papanagutin ka sa mata ng batas (If you commit a crime in this city, we will surely hunt you down and hold you accountable under the law),” he added.
He also reported that the Manila Police District apprehended the most wanted person in the National Capital Region for murder, along with suspects in a viral video showing pipe-wielding attackers along R-10.
Meanwhile, he also announced that the City Government of Manila, in coordination with Leonel Waste Management, collected nearly 20 tons of accumulated garbage inside the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
“Nakakolekta po ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Maynila thru Leonel Waste Management ng mahigit-kumulang na 20 toneladang basura sa loob ng Philippine General Hospital (PGH) (The City Government of Manila, through Leonel Waste Management, has collected approximately 20 tons of waste inside PGH).”
He said that he has instructed the Department of Public Services (DPS) to immediately carry out flushing operations at PGH to disinfect the area where the garbage had piled up, to prevent illness.
