The trough of Tropical Storm Danas (formerly “Bising”) will continue to bring rains to parts of extreme northern Luzon, while the southwest monsoon (habagat) affects most of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, July 5.
As of 3 a.m., PAGASA reported that the tropical storm was located 480 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It was packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km/h, moving slowly westward.
PAGASA said the trough of “Bising” is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon is enhancing rain activity across several regions.
The following areas are also experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the habagat: Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
PAGASA added that the rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also brought by the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas. Residents in affected regions are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
