CEBU CITY – Shabu valued at more than P500 million was seized in the past six months in Central Visayas.
The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported that from January to June, 4,101 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted.
Confiscated were 76,120.35 grams of shabu worth P517,618,380, P3,038,814 marijuana, 250 grams of cocaine (P1.3 million), and 60 tablets of Ecstasy (P102,000).
The campaign resulted in the arrest of 238 high-value individuals, 2,522 street-level drug pushers, and 1,973 newly identified drug personalities.
Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of PRO-7, said the value of illegal drugs seized was a reflection of the region’s effective anti-illegal drug strategy.
“We will not let up. Every gram of shabu taken off the streets, every pusher and trafficker arrested, is a victory for every community in Central Visayas. Our men and women in uniform have risked their lives to protect our people, and these results reflect their dedication, professionalism, and unyielding resolve to make our region safer,” said Maranan.
Maranan assured that the PRO-7 will continue its intensified drug campaign.
He appealed for continued support from the community, pointing out that the campaign against illegal drugs is a shared responsibility.
“The fight against illegal drugs is not the sole responsibility of the police, it is a shared duty. We call on the public to continue supporting our campaign by reporting drug-related activities and working hand in hand with us to create a drug-free Central Visayas,” said Maranan.
