Love and culture united at the first-ever DTI Wedding Fair, held from June 27 to 29, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center Aura, Taguig City. The event brought to life the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) vision of empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by spotlighting their role in the booming wedding industry.
The fair opened with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and a program hosted by Isabelle Daza, setting the tone for a weekend filled with inspiration, artistry, and community. DTI Secretary Maria Cristina Roque followed with a meaningful speech highlighting the importance of supporting small and medium businesses, noting that they are the backbone of the Philippine economy. Day one also featured a stunning fashion show with elegant gowns, handbags, and footwear by Filipino designers, captivating VIP guests, industry leaders, and members of the media seated front row.
On day two, the fair offered a series of creative talks that enriched the experience for soon-to-wed couples and wedding professionals alike. Local experts shared insights on topics such as visual storytelling, music curation, native textiles, and even the use of poetry in wedding elements—all emphasizing how Filipino culture can be thoughtfully woven into modern celebrations.
The final day concluded with a grand fashion showcase, spotlighting the MSMEs that participated in the fair. A memorable highlight came when DTI officials themselves walked the runway in creations by Filipino designer Frederick Berches, symbolizing the department’s deep commitment to uplifting local talent. Keeping the excitement high through the third day, Secretary Roque announced the launch of the One Billion Women’s Enterprise Fund, specifically allocated to support Filipino women entrepreneurs.
What truly set the first-ever DTI Wedding Fair apart was its dual purpose. While the event showcased beautiful wedding details, it also served as a strategic platform to connect local businesses with engaged couples and industry players. The fair aligned with DTI’s Tatak Pinoy and Malikhaing Pinoy initiatives, reinforcing support for the Philippine creative industries.
With a total sales record of PHP 113 million from 80 participating MSMEs, the first-ever DTI Wedding Fair surpassed all previous DTI trade fairs, recording the highest sales to date. The event proved to be not only a celebration of love, but also a powerful economic opportunity for Filipino MSMEs.
DTI Secretary Maria Cristina Roque encapsulated the spirit of the event, stating:
“You are not just creating beautiful weddings. You are building stronger communities.”
The DTI Wedding Fair stands as a testament to how the wedding industry can become a vibrant avenue for local enterprise growth and cultural pride.
