DMW: 13 more OFWs repatriated from Israel

For almost two decades, Israel has been a generous home for overseas Filipino worker Josephine Sanglitan Sandoi. She initially has no plan to go back to the country, until a ballistic missile fired by Iran exploded near their shelter.
The explosion injured some of her co-workers and made her rethink her decision to stay.
On Friday, July 4, the 51-year old Sandoi was among the 13 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) from Israel who arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Pasay City.
Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the OFWs were immediately provided with comprehensive reintegration support including livelihood, health, and welfare programs.
The OFWs, who are caregivers and hotel workers, were also given TESDA (Technical Education And Skills Development Authority) training vouchers for OFWs' smooth transition to new life.
Upon arrival, also the repatriates underwent health checks and received immediate financial assistance as a safety net.
This additional group of repatriates completes Batch 38-B’s total of 21 OFWs repatriated from Israel under the government’s voluntary repatriation program facilitated by the DMW and its partner agencies.
Despite the improvement of the security situation in the Middle East that prompted the Department of Foreign Affairs to lower the alert to Level 2 (which means OFWs with valid contract can return to Israel), the national government is keeping repatriation as an option for Filipinos in the area.
