Teen nabbed for stealing tip box from coffee shop in Manila

A 19-year-old male was arrested for allegedly stealing a tip box containing P12,000 from a coffee shop in Binondo, Manila.

A Manila Police District (MPD) report said the incident occurred on Tuesday night, July 1. The suspect pretended to be a customer and took the tip box while the staff were busy with the other customers.

He went to the restroom, hid the money in his bag, and fled onboard an e-trike.

The staff only discovered the tip box was missing during closing time, prompting them to report the incident to authorities.

Police immediately conducted a follow-up operation that led to the suspect’s arrest.

However, the stolen money was not recovered.

Investigators said the suspect had already used the cash for online gambling, although he claimed it was intended to buy milk and diapers for his children.

Further investigation showed that he had previously been detained for a similar offense.

The suspect will face theft charges.
