The Philippines and Canada have discussed deepening their cooperation in trade, defense, and efforts in maintaining peace in the region.

President Marcos bared that he had talked with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney through a phone call on Thursday evening, July 3.
“Had a very good conversation with Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada,” Marcos said on Friday morning. Their conversation lasted for around 20 minutes.
“We discussed how our two nations can further strengthen and deepen cooperation in trade, defence and maintaining peace in our region,” Marcos added.
The President also stated that he thanked Carney for Canada's assistance to the Filipino community in Vancouver during the tragic Lapu-Lapu Day incident.
“I also conveyed our gratitude for Canada’s swift assistance to the Filipino community in Vancouver following the tragic incident at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival,” he said.
“We look forward to building on this partnership for the benefit of our peoples,” he added.
