Marcos said this as he welcomed business leaders participating in the 14th Asian Business Summit in Malacañan on Thursday, July 3.
During a courtesy call, the President told summit delegates that the Philippines was working with the Philippines-Japan Economic Cooperation Committee (PHILJEC) “to bring in investments in clean energy and modern industries that will create quality jobs for Filipinos.”
“Soon, we will see factories powered by renewable energy and digital hubs rising across the country, bringing progress closer to every Filipino family,” he said.
The Philippines is hosting the Asian Business Summit for the second time, 11 years after it first did so in 2014. The summit is co-organized by the PHILJEC and Japan’s influential business federation Keidanren.
During the courtesy call, President Marcos underscored the need for deeper regional ties in a fast-changing global landscape.
“The interrelationships between our different countries are going to be the key to stability and development and progress,” he said.
According to PHILJEC Chairman Richard Osmond, business leaders from 12 economies are represented in the 14th edition of the summit.
The summit was launched in 2010 by Keidanren to promote regional economic dialogue and collaboration among Asia’s top business chambers.
Osmond was joined in the courtesy call by PHILJEC Co-Chairmen Alfred Ty of Toyota Motor Philippines and Ferdinand Ferrer of Gruppo EMS; Keidanren Vice Chairmen Endo Nobuhiro of NEC Corporation and Hyodo Masayuki of Sumitomo Corporation; and Japan-Philippines Economic Cooperation Committee (JPECC) members.
Also present from the Philippine government were Trade Secretary Cristina Roque, Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go, and Special Envoy to Japan for Trade and Investment Amable Aguiluz V.
