A 35-year-old businesswoman was arrested after allegedly defrauding a woman of P500,000 in a bogus land deal in Antipolo City, authorities said on Wednesday, July 2.

The Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) identified the suspect as “Lab.” She was arrested by operatives of the Antipolo Component City Police Station during an entrapment operation in Barangay Bagong Nayon on Monday, June 30.
Based on the investigation, the suspect allegedly victimized a 53-year-old woman by promising to sell her an alleged titled piece of land on January 24 in exchange for P500,000.
However, the victim said that despite paying the initial payment, the suspect reportedly demanded an additional P100,000 on June 30 for the same property, prompting her to seek police assistance.
Authorities immediately launched the operation, which led to the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of P36,000 in cash from. The suspect is currently detained and is facing charges for estafa.
The Rizal police reminded the public to remain vigilant against suspicious financial transactions and to immediately report any form of fraud to the nearest police station.
