PBBM to support bill banning minors from social media use if it's truly beneficial—Palace
If the proposed bill to regulate the use of social media among minors would indeed benefit the youth and their mental health, President Marcos will support it.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said this when sought for the Palace's thoughts over the bill filed by Senator Panfilo Lacson, prohibiting minors from accessing or using social media platforms.
Marcos would support the bill as long as it is for the sake of Filipinos, especially the youth, Castro said.
“Muli, kung ano iyong makabubuti sa ating mga kababayan lalung-lalo na sa mga kabataan, kung ito po talaga ay magko-cause ng mental health issues, sususugan din po ng Pangulo iyan at makakakuha siya ng suporta basta po ito ay para sa taumbayan at lalung-lalo na para sa kabataan (Again, whatever will benefit our fellow citizens, especially the youth, if this truly causes mental health issues, the President will support it, and he will gain backing as long as it is for the people, and most especially for the youth),” Castro said in a Palace briefing on Thursday, July 3.
Under Lacson's proposed measure, he cited a United Nation Children’s Fund study that revealed that Filipino minors have become vulnerable to cyberbullying, body image pressures, and online harassment.
According to the senator, “this bill is being proposed to protect Filipino children below 18 years old from online risks and harmful content by prohibiting minors from accessing or using social media platforms.”
