Alas Pilipinas standouts Vanie Gandler and Leila Cruz were named as candidates of the VTV International Cup Ms. Volleyball Rose competition recently.
Gandler and Cruz took a short break from action and joined the activity for female beauties, flaunting their stunning Filipina looks while wearing Vietnam’s traditional dress ‘Áo dài’.
The two Filipina hitters were joined by their fellow players from other teams including from host Vietnam and Australia which undeniably brought delight to the crowd.
One of the objectives of the side event was to promote Vietnam's culture to the foreign visitors.
Last year, Bella Belen, Caitlin Viray and Des Cheng bannered the Philippines in the special event of the week-long competition.
This Thursday, July 3, the Jia De Guzman-led Alas tests its mettle against Est Cola (Thailand U21) in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m.
Winning over the Thai bets could set them up with a semifinal duel against Australia or reigning champion Korabelka of Russia.
