BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-13 (Caraga) achieved a crime clearance efficiency rate of 98.9 percent from January to June this year.
During the period, approximately 4,493 crimes were recorded in the region, comprising 2,561 incidents under the Peace and Order Indicator (POI) and 1,932 incidents under the Public Safety Indicator (PSI).
The POI includes both index and non-index crimes, while the PSI consists of vehicular incidents.
“Given these numbers, the PRO-13 still achieved a high rate of crime clearance efficiency during the first half of 2025,” said Police Major Jennifer Ometer, PRO-13 information office chief, in an interview on Thursday.
A decrease in POI was noted during the period, with only 2,561 cases recorded compared to the 2,990 incidents logged in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, a slight increase was recorded in PSI from January to June this year, with 1,932 cases compared to 1,853 during the first six months of 2024.
Of the 4,493 total reported incidents during the period, 1,547 cases were cleared and 3,943 were solved, Ometer added.
Ometer explained that cleared cases are those where suspects or persons of interest have been identified but are not yet filed in court, while solved cases are those that have been formally filed in court. (with PNA)
