Young hopeful's viral plea to Regine Velasquez creates buzz on 'Idol Kids Philippines'

A young contestant captured hearts and went viral online after expressing his desire to be adopted by his idol, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, in the first two episodes of the debut season of “Idol Kids Philippines.”
The lighthearted interaction with Gab, a soft-spoken seven-year-old from Parañaque City, quickly became a fan favorite and has amassed nearly 11 million views across social media platforms. Gab captured the hearts of both judges and viewers with his heartfelt rendition of “Kumusta Ka,” earning him a spot in the show’s mid-rounds.
Among the most talked-about contestants is young hopeful Alexa, a nine-year-old from Laguna, who wowed the judges with her energetic rendition of “Nosi Balasi.” She received four “yes” votes and progressed to the next round.

Netizens also praised seven-year-old Liam from Sta. Cruz, Laguna, for his rendition of JK Labajo's song Buwan. He was the first contestant to perform in front of the judges and made a remarkable impression by receiving a yes from all four judges. His audition concluded on a high note when he surprised everyone with a duet alongside his idol, JK Labajo.
A touching moment occurred with seven-year-old Kiefer from Pangasinan, who performed May Bukas Pa in his bid to win and help his father obtain a prosthetic eye. Although he did not advance to the next round, all four judges were profoundly moved by his story and promised to cover the costs of his father's prosthetic eye.
Netizens showed strong support for “Idol Kids Philippines” online, with the pilot episodes airing on Saturday (June 28) and Sunday (June 29) attracting over 270,000 peak concurrent viewers.
Catch the kiddie hopefuls as they achieve their brightest dreams on “Idol Kids Philippines,” every Saturday and Sunday, 7:15pm to 8:30pm, on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and Kapamilya Online Live, and 8pm to 9:15pm on TV5.
