The Land Transportation Office (LTO) placed on alarm the plate and registration of a vehicle registered to a pharmaceutical company over a viral video of covering its plate apparently to evade the No-Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP).
LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the modus of the driver was that it covered its regular license plate with an unauthorized plate apparently to make it difficult for NCAP authorities to identify the vehicle in case of violations.
The only visible part of the original plate was the letters as the four numbers were covered by an unauthorized plate.
But he was wrong as the video itself that went viral provided the necessary information to identify the vehicles and its owners, according to Mendoza.
“We will make sure that those responsible will be held accountable. We will not allow these people to brazenly mock our laws and traffic regulations,” said Mendoza.
The LTO earlier suspended the driver’s license and placed under alarm a motorcycle with license plate covered by a packaging tape.
In this case, the driver of Toyota Vios was traveling along Taft Avenue.
The next step, according to LTO Intelligence and Investigation chief Renante Melitante is to identify the driver and to determine if the company is aware of the illegal modus.
In the show cause order issued, the registered owner was asked to bring the driver in the hearing to face a case of violation of being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle (Sec. 27 (a) of R.A. 4136).
