Another fierce and fabulous 'puksaan' or battle of pageant queens is shaping up in preparation for the coronation night of Miss Grand International (MGI) Philippines 2025, scheduled for Aug. 12 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
The public had a glimpse of the beauty battle ahead as 29 stunning candidates from all over the country were officially introduced at the press presentation of MGI PH 2025, held at the Golden Ballroom of Okada Manila.
Aside from Miss Grand International Philippines 2025, three other titles are at stake in this year's competition: Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2025, Face of Beauty Philippines 2025, and Miss Asia-Pacific Philippines 2025.
Clad in chic pink outfits, the candidates first received their sashes in a ceremony led by Arnold Vegafria, national director of Miss Grand Philippines, and Miss Grand International 2024 Christine Juliane Opiaza. Then, the ladies turned heads as they strutted in aqua blue swimwear while introducing themselves and the areas they represent.
Cheered on by enthusiastic pageant fans present at the event, several familiar faces from the country’s biggest pageants made a striking entrance.

A crowd favorite was NET25 newscaster Emma Tiglao, representing Pampanga. She previously held the title of Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2019. When asked why she joined this year, she answered: Pageantry is my home, I call it coming home. And why Miss Grand? Because I saw how extravagant their production is and how they feature different personalities of their queens. I think this stage is the right stage to come home to.
Michelle Arceo is also a force to be reckoned with. She won first runner-up honors in Miss Environment International 2022 and represented the Philippines in Reina Hispanoamericana 2023 where she emerged second runner-up. The 26-year old model vowed that this is the last time she's joining a major pageant so she's gonna make every moment count.
A certified returnee is Shannon Tampon, Miss Elite 2022 first runner-up and last year’s Miss Grand Philippines 2023 first runner-up.
Nikki Buenafe Chevey, a half-Iranian beauty who was crowned Miss Multinational Philippines at the 2024 Miss World Philippines pageant, is now proudly representing Quezon City in this year's Miss Grand PH.
Francesca Beatriz Abalajon McLelland, a Top 14 finalist in the recently concluded Binibining Pilipinas 2025 and Miss Eco Teen International 2022 first runner-up, is representing Aklan.
Completing the roster of seasoned queens are Anita Rose Gomez of Zambales and Angeleyh Pasco of Davao, both alumnae of Miss Universe Philippines.

Reigning Miss Grand International CJ Opiaza ticked off the characteristics which will win for the lucky girl the most coveted title: I know the queen will also not only wear the crown on her head, but also wear the crown with the utmost priority of wearing it with its interest and purpose of bringing the common good. And of course, bringing the four Ps of Miss Grand International. Let us not forget beauty, body, brain, and business.
CJ added that there's another B that's required of the winner, and that's Behavior. I know Filipinas can truly shine on that stage.
As anticipation builds up for the August 12 finals, all eyes are on who will rise above the rest and wear the crown that CJ Opiaza will pass on.
