The 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) will be held from October 23 to 25, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. With momentum building from both public and private sectors, EVAP aims to consolidate its efforts in pushing for the widespread adoption of electric mobility in the Philippines.
Founded in 2009, the same year Nissan launched the LEAF globally, EVAP has long advocated for a national transition to electric vehicles. At the time, affordable EVs and charging infrastructure were still limited to projections and prototypes. Even so, EVAP engaged early with lawmakers and government agencies to establish policies that would nurture the local EV ecosystem.
One of EVAP's key accomplishments is the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, which began as a modest gathering at the Meralco Gym in 2010. The event expanded significantly by 2012 and has since become the country’s most prominent EV-focused exhibition and conference. The 12th edition, held in 2024 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay, marked a record number of exhibitors and attendees, further attracting interest from established automakers and startups alike.
EVAP's advocacy has extended beyond public exhibitions. The group played a central role in the passage of Republic Act No. 11697, or the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), in 2022. The law provided a structured policy environment for both EV manufacturers and charging infrastructure providers. EVAP also contributed to the release of the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (CREVI), a government-led framework aligning policy and investment strategies for the sector.
The association worked to secure government support for a range of complementary policies, including the TRAIN Law, Executive Orders 12 (2023) and 62 (2024), and the CREATE Law. These measures, combined with EVAP's guidance, form the basis of the EV Incentive Strategy that is driving current investment trends.
As of 2024, the Philippines has 922 operational charging points supported by 147 accredited charging service providers. These developments have created over 10,400 new jobs and attracted approximately ₱1.99 billion in investments. In addition, EVAP has backed ventures involving the local production of electric vehicles, batteries, and raw materials such as nickel. Investments in these sectors are expected to reach another ₱1 billion.
EVAP's focus is not limited to transportation and infrastructure. The association is preparing to introduce an all-electric racing series by the end of the year. Workshops will be held to train drivers in handling EVs under competitive conditions, particularly highlighting the unique torque characteristics of electric motors. The long-term vision is to eventually bring the ABB FIA Formula E championship to the Philippines, a move that would place the country on the global electric motorsport map while also encouraging tourism and local talent development.
EVAP currently counts 88 active corporate members and has established a growing academe chapter composed of seven pioneering universities. As more EV brands and models enter the Philippine market, EVAP is also working on a recognition program to identify standout products and companies in the sector.
Further details on these plans will be disclosed at the upcoming 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, which is expected to gather key stakeholders and decision-makers in government, industry, and the academe. The summit will continue to serve as the country’s premier platform for driving discussions and actions toward a cleaner and more sustainable transport future.
