DepEd denies social media posts about adding Saturday classes

The Department of Education (DepEd) has denied social media posts claiming that Saturday classes will be added for students from elementary to senior high school, calling the circulating information “fake news.”

The agency clarified that no such policy has been announced or approved.

In a social media post on Wednesday, July 2, DepEd reiterated its warning against the spread of false or misleading information.

“Muling pinaaalalahanan ng DepEd ang publiko na mag-ingat at maging mapanuri laban sa anumang uri ng misinformation (DepEd once again reminds the public to be cautious and discerning against any form of misinformation),” the agency said.

DepEd also urged the public to rely only on verified sources for announcements and updates related to basic education.
