Couple arrested after running off with P600K from employer's store in Antipolo
A man and his live-in partner were arrested after allegedly running off with around P600,000 in sales from the meat shop where they were working in Antipolo City.
Authorities said the store owner first noticed that the suspects had been away from the shop for several hours on Sunday, June 29, but initially assumed they had just gone out to buy something.
However, by that afternoon, the suspects still had not returned, which was also when the victim discovered that almost P600,000 in store money was missing.
The victim immediately reported the incident to authorities, but it was later discovered that the suspects had already fled to their province in Negros Oriental with the stolen money.
On Monday, June 30, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) was able to track down the suspects in the province and immediately flew them back to Antipolo City.
Antipolo City Police Officer-in-Charge Lt. Col. Jaime Pederio said that part of the stolen money was recovered.
The suspects said they were just desperate to return to their province as it had become difficult for them to work and earn a living in Manila. They added that they regretted their actions and asked if the case could be dropped.
The suspects are now detained at the Antipolo Police Station and are facing theft charges.
