The event, dubbed as “Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!,” emphasizes that access to safe, nutritious, and adequate food is a basic human right.
The PSWDO has prepared month-long activities such as the tarpaulin display, daily nutrition-related content on the PGB website, and community events in daycare centers, schools, and other sectors.
The celebration features the “Ngiti Mo, Sagot Namin” program, now in its 21st year, which offers free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries from July 1 to 23.
The weekly “Nutrition on Air” radio program will air on July 3, 10, 17, and 24 via Radyo Kapitolyo, providing useful health and nutrition information to listeners.
The celebration continues on July 24 for the “Mutya ng Buntis” pageant and Bulacan’s participation in National Disability Rights Week. On July 29, the “Bahay Kubo Cooking Contest” will highlight local culinary talent.
The celebration will end with a culminating program on July 31, which aims to honor individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to promoting nutrition in the province.
During the kickoff event, PSWDO head Rowena Joson-Tiongson stressed the importance of the theme, especially as many families continue to struggle with inflation and food insecurity.
She called on Governor Daniel Fernando, Vice Governor Alexis Castro, and provincial board members to support the campaign and help strengthen the province’s nutrition programs.
Fernando encouraged Bulakenyos, especially government employees, to take care of their health and take part in the month-long celebration.
