Vice President Sara Duterte hailed the Philippine Air Force (PAF) as it celebrated its 78th founding anniversary, citing how its longevity symbolized the its dedication and commitment to protecting the country’s airspace.

“Nakikiisa ako sa inyong pagdiriwang ng araw na ito na sumisimbulo sa inyong matapang na dedikasyon na protektahan ang himpapawid ng bansa at pangalagaan ang kapakanan ng sambayanang Pilipino (I am one with you in celebrating this day that symbolizes your courageous dedication to protecting the country’s airspace and safeguard the welfare of Filipinos),” she said in a message on Tuesday, July 1.
The Vice President also expressed her high regard for the duties fulfilled by the Philippine Air Force, and wished for them to continue being pillars of peace for the country.
“Ngayong araw na ito, ako ay sumasaludo sa inyong magiting na serbisyo sa bayan, na inyong patuloy na ipinapakita sa inyong katatagan at sakripisyo, anumang oras at panahon (Today, I salute your heroic service to the nation, that you continue to show through firmness and sacrifice no matter the time),” Duterte stated.
“Nawa’y manatili kayong sandigan ng tapat na paglilingkod at matibay na saligan ng kapayapaan at kalayaan sa ating bayan (May you continue to be the bedrock of honest service and a strong foundation of peace and freedom in our country),” she added.
The theme for this year’s founding anniversary of the PAF is “Focus PAF @78: Advancing Air Power by Committing to Mission, Strengthening Capabilities and Championing Core Values,” which highlights the recognition of outstanding PAF units and personnel “for their exceptional performance, operational excellence and steadfast dedication to national service,” it said on its Facebook page.
“It remains committed to protecting the nation’s skies and contributing to national peace and security. The PAF remains ready to face future challenges with strength, unity and service,” it added.
President Marcos led the celebration at the PAF Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City on July 1.
