According to Zamora, the city government had previously focused on strengthening the health and wellness services of the city, particularly at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
After the pandemic, he said the local government unit (LGU) shifted its focus on the construction of major housing and infrastructure projects throughout the city, including the construction of a 1,029 housing unit building for San Juaneños.
“Right now, mayroon tayong na-lock in na sinisimulan na ay ang unang gusali which is 1,029 units. So first building pa lang ‘yan. Mayroon pa tayong second at third buildings after that. Kaya nga po tayo nakikipagpulong sa ating bagong kalihim na si Secretary Ping Aliling sapagkat baka sakali may mga pagbabago lang sa panuntunan ng Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) (Right now, we have one locked in that is already starting, which is the first building which has 1,029 units. So that's just the first building. We still have the second and third buildings after that. That's why we are meeting with our new secretary, Secretary Ping Aliling, because maybe there will be changes in the DHSUD rules), Zamora explained, as he expressed hope that the two other housing buildings can also accommodate 1,029 units.
“It’s going to be in the same area along F. Manalo Street sapagkat most of our LGU-owned properties are here along F. Manalo. So, we will assess the second and third sites kung kaya rin ‘yung parehong laki ng unang site natin (It’s going to be in the same area along F. Manalo Street because most of our local government-owned properties are here along F. Manalo. So, we will assess the second and third sites if they have the same size as our first site),” he added.
