REP. Duterte
Although facing charges of crimes against humanity related to his administration’s controversial war on drugs, former President Duterte's family assured the public that he remains in good physical and emotional condition.
“He’s doing well. He’s in good spirits and still cracking jokes, especially to his grandchildren,” Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte said on Monday, June 30, describing his father as relaxed and mentally steady.
Former President Duterte also conveyed a message of gratitude to Filipinos through his son.
“He thanked everyone for their continued support. He said not to worry too much — if this is his destiny, then so be it,” the lawmaker relayed.
The interview with Alvin and Tourism Facebook page provided rare insight into Duterte’s condition and mindset while at the detention center of the International Criminal Court, as international legal proceedings continue.
As of now, the ICC has not released new updates regarding former President Duterte’s case or the possibility of interim release.
However, his legal counsel, Nicholas Kaufmann, stated that a ruling on that matter is expected sometime in July.
Nothing special with Jas
Rep. Duterte denied on Monday that his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, has any romantic involvement with a woman he only identified as Jas.
Rep. Duterte told Alvin & Tourism Facebook page that former President Duterte has no romantic or familial ties with Jas, who he referred to as one of the women rumored to be his father's common-law wife.
Regarding his alleged common-law wives—which he himself referred to as such—he clarified that he has no relationship with Ma’am Jas, stating that they are neither cousins nor siblings, and therefore have no personal ties, Rep. Duterte said.
