Reginaldo Cariaso
Yuchengco-led Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) announced the appointment of Reginaldo Cariaso as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO) effective Tuesday, July 1.
Cariaso will be taking over the role that Eugene S. Acevedo held for nearly seven years, beginning in 2019. RCBC said Acevedo is retiring after “steering the bank through a period of transformative growth, digital innovation, and inclusive banking.” He will remain involved in the bank as a member of the board of directors.
Cariaso, an experienced leader with almost thirty years in global and local financial institutions, brings “extensive expertise in institutional banking, capital markets, and strategic execution,” the bank said in a statement released on Tuesday.
Before joining RCBC, Cariaso held senior leadership roles at Ayala-led Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and JP Morgan Hong Kong. His career started as a lieutenant in the United States (US) Navy Submarine Force.
Before being appointed deputy and CEO in January this year, he led the operations group and oversaw company-wide initiatives. According to RCBC, his leadership “enhanced service delivery and streamlined processes, which helped strengthen the bank’s infrastructure and overall experience.”
Cariaso’s plan upon assuming leadership is strengthening the bank’s position as a “digitally driven customer-first bank.” He aims to drive the bank’s financial innovations and improve the banking experience through data intelligence and system integration.
“Our focus is clear. We will build more seamless connections to deliver relevant, timely, and intuitive financial solutions,” the bank’s new president and CEO said. RCBC “must go beyond traditional offerings such as loans and deposits to stay competitive in today’s banking landscape.”
He also stressed the need to modernize the bank’s approach by shifting from basic transactions to a more scalable strategy that leverages digital tools, data, and intelligent systems to strengthen client engagement.
According to RCBC, Cariaso’s appointment would ensure the continuity and forward momentum for RCBC.
