Kidapawan City mayor orders strict compliance with 'No Gift Policy'
EVANGELISTA
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Reelected Mayor Jose Paolo Evangelista on Tuesday intensified his efforts for transparency and good governance by working to improve anti-corruption policies and boost the image of local public servants.
Evangelista, currently serving his second term, highlighted five key changes that all elected officials and government workers in Kidapawan City should adopt and strictly follow.
The changes include strict compliance with a “No Gift Policy” in all offices, extending to barangay local government units.
We are paid by the government; thus, gifts and tips are not necessary to perform our tasks, Evangelista, a lawyer, said in a Facebook post.
He also ordered that all elected city government officials should no longer be addressed or referred to as “Honorable” in their capacity as public servants.
Evangelista instructed the Bids and Awards Committee to livestream its sessions to promote transparency within the local government’s procurement process.
He noted that through negotiated procurement and community participation, the city government will focus on serving local farmers, fisherfolk, women’s groups, cooperatives, 4Ps beneficiaries, and community organizations.
In addition, the mayor declared that marking the names and faces of any elected city officials is strictly prohibited on all posters and activities involving government projects and events.
Evangelista urged the public to report any violations to ensure accountability and to summon the involved personalities. (PNA)
