Honoring 'Herstory:' DLSU-D renames 5 campus buildings after Filipina trailblazers

CAVITE – De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) renamed five of its campus buildings after Filipina trailblazers as part of its efforts to promote gender-inclusive historical recognition.
The university announced the development on its website on Monday, June 30.

The former College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) Building has been renamed Gregoria de Jesus Hall (GDH), paying tribute to the “Lakambini of the Katipunan” known for her courage and leadership during the Philippine Revolution.
The former Small Business Center (SBC) Building is now Doña Marcela Agoncillo Hall (MAH), in recognition of the “Mother of the Philippine Flag,” who sewed the country’s first national flag.
The former College of Science (COS) Building has become Dr. Fe Del Mundo Hall (FDH), in honor of the pioneering pediatrician who established the first pediatric hospital in the Philippines.
The former College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) Building is now Maria Salome Llanera Hall (MLH), to commemorate her role as a revolutionary leader in 1896 and her later contributions to agriculture and civic work.
And the former College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) Building has been renamed Purificacion Borromeo Hall, in recognition of the celebrated opera singer who helped shape the Philippine arts scene during the height of zarzuelas and operas.
The announcement mentioned that the building renaming affirms the university's mission to celebrate Filipino culture and ensure women’s roles in history are equally acknowledged.
