The High Speed Hitters clawed back from 21-16 and 23-21 deficits in the third set, needing three match-point opportunities before sealing the deal and entering the win column in Pool A.
Kiesha Bedonia led the charge with 14 points off 10 kills, two blocks, and two aces, while Mika Reyes chipped in 10 points highlighted by seven attacks and three blocks.
PLDT coach Rald Ricafort said the tournament serves as a test for how his players handle pressure-packed situations like the third set comeback.
“Tinitingnan namin kung saan kami aabot this conference. Ready naman sila sa mga ganung sitwasyon kanina, and happy ako na na-execute nila yung mga plays namin,” said Ricafort.
The High Speed Hitters also capitalized on Farm Fresh’s 29 unforced errors, including a costly attack error from Lorene Toring that handed PLDT its third match-point advantage. Reyes then sealed the win with a decisive block.
Trisha Tubu led the Foxies with 14 points, while Rizza Cruz added 10 points. Despite their efforts, Farm Fresh couldn’t close out the tight third set.
