The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), the state-run pension fund for public-sector workers, reported strong growth in non-life insurance operations while it opened its new Quezon City hub to better serve members and pensioners.
In a statement on Monday, June 30, the GSIS disclosed that from January to May 2025, gross premiums written reached ₱7.59 billion, an 11.9-percent increase compared to the same period last year. In 2024, the GSIS collected ₱10.5 billion in total premiums, surpassing its target of ₱8.9 billion, it noted.
The new Non-Life Insurance Hub, launched also on Monday at the Quezon City branch office, completes the rollout of GSIS insurance hubs nationwide under its unified Ginhawa Insure, Para Sure brand.
The facility is designed to enhance access to insurance services for both institutional clients and individual members, including coverage for motor vehicles, residential properties, and personal safety under the GSIS’ motor vehicle, fire, and personal accident insurance programs.
“The insurance hub is intended to make our services more accessible and responsive to the agencies and local governments. Quezon City is a strategic location that allows us to support more institutions and protect more public assets,” GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said.
The hub also provides institutional services to property officers, helping government agencies comply with Republic Act (RA) No. 656, which designates the GSIS as the official insurer of government-owned assets such as buildings, vehicles, and equipment. Agencies can conveniently file applications, renewals, and claims through the facility.
“As risks become more complex, government institutions need timely and reliable insurance solutions. This hub strengthens our commitment to provide efficient protection, right where it’s needed,” said Veloso.
With the addition of its Quezon City hub, the GSIS now has full nationwide coverage for its non-life insurance services, reinforcing its push to make insurance protection more accessible and responsive to the evolving needs of both public institutions and individuals.
