BACOLOD CITY -- The first-ever lady mayor of Talisay City, Negros Occidental, was sworn in on Monday, June 30.
Lawyer Rowena Lizares was inducted by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Therese Blanche Bolunia at the Talisay public plaza after attending a Mass with her family, friends, constituents, and supporters.
She replaced her husband Mayor Neil who wa on his last term.
“For the frst time in our history, a woman stands before you as your mayor. This is not just about breaking barriers, it is also building a future where no one is left behind, where every voice is heard, where leadership reflects the strength, resilience, and compassion of the people,” she said in her message.
She said that her leadership will be anchored on Asenso program’s four pillars, one that mirrors the inner beauty of the people and potential of their future.
Lizares stressed the importance of integrity, inclusivity, sustainability, and good governance in her leadership.
She vowed to serve the people of Talisay with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
“A public service is a sacred trust. We will ensure that every centavo is spent wisely, every project is monitored and open to scrutiny,” she said.
Lizares vowed to ensure inclusivity, ensuring that she will listen to the people regardless of stature, gender, or belief.
“Leadership is for all, not just for selected people,” she added.
