Who is Pompompurin?
Pompompurin has always been a winner from the get-go. He was conceptualized during an in-house contest to create a new dog mascot for the company. In 1996, he made his debut appearance as Boku, before later changing his name to Pudding, then his current name. Fans were quick to show love, landing him the top spot on his debut year in the character ranking contest in 1997. Pompompurin is well-known for his love of food and is often shown as the owner of an ice cream business in some media appearances.
Hello Kitty’s recent performance in polls
Despite Hello Kitty being Sanrio’s official mascot, her last win was in 2019. She has since consistently placed fifth or sixth. Hello Kitty still holds the record for most wins, having won the top spot over 14 times. She also holds the longest winning streak, having won nine years in a row from 1998 to 2009.
