Jan Wildfreed Redulla and Lhey Marie Manginsay smashed their way to a perfect run and snared the lone gold for Team Philippines in the 2025 ITTF World Para Future Taipei in Taiwan Sunday, June 29.
Redulla and Manginsay made their presence felt in the mixed doubles class XD17 – Group 1 after sweeping their rivals which included two other Filipino teams and a Chinese Taipei pair to reach the top of the podium.
The Redulla-Manginsay duo opened their run with a rousing 11-7, 11-6, 5-11, 11-9 win over Jhona Peña and Linadr Sultan, who eventually settled for silver. They followed it up by a hard-fought 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 7-11, 11-6 escape against Leo Macalanda and Minnie Cadag.
The lethal tandem then cruised past hometown bets Ren Ting Huang and Yan Ru Lin, 11-5, 6-11, 11-4, 11-8.
The golden triumph overshadowed the bronze medal finish of Manginsay and Mary Eloise Sable in the women’s doubles WD20.
Meanwhile, Manginsay’s partner Redulla also bagged a silver in men’s singles class 8 after bowing to Japan’s Hayuma Abe, 9-11, 11-13, 7-11, in the final.
Peña took silver in women’s singles class 6–7 after an 11-5, 13-15, 1-11, 12-14 loss to veteran Moldovan-born Russian Raisa Chebanika.
