Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian began his second term with a renewed pledge to deliver inclusive and meaningful progress for all Valenzuelanos, highlighting his flagship “Valenzuelife” program during the city’s official oath-taking ceremony on Monday, June 30.
The oathtaking was held at Casa de Polo in Valenzuela and was presided over by Court of Appeals Justice Jaime Fortunato Caringal, who administered the oath of office to the city's newly elected officials following the May 2025 elections.
“The next three years give us a fresh start, a fresh mandate, and new energy to strengthen our governance and make Valenzuela an even better place to live and this is what we call the ‘Valenzuela Life,’” he said.
“This is what our people should feel and what we will work hard to deliver,” he said.
Gatchalian emphasized that the essence of “Valenzuelife” lies in creating a city that its residents can be proud of: livable, progressive, and inclusive.
“Let’s build a city that offers a good life, a city we’re proud to call home. One where people can live meaningfully and truly feel the presence of their local government. That, to me, is the importance of the ‘Valenzuelife’ program,” he said.
The mayor also outlined his administration’s next steps, including the proposed Valenzuela Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Academy and the upcoming State of the Health Address, initiatives he said reflect the city’s commitment to innovation and citizen welfare.
“These are our new priority projects for the City of Valenzuela. Likewise, I hope to earn the full support of our fellow citizens in pushing forward what we call the ‘Valenzuelife’. This is what I promised during my campaign, and this is what I intend to fulfill and prove during our second term,” he said.
The mayor also said that the city’s leadership team, composed of dynamic and mostly young leaders, brings fresh perspectives to public service.
“We were elected, and as you can see, our entire line-up is composed of young leaders. I believe that if we stand united and help each other, we can accomplish a lot,” he said.
Before the oath-taking, the 9th City Council held its final session, passing resolutions to honor outgoing three-term councilors Ramon Encarnacion and Ricar Enriquez, and outgoing Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, now a councilor, for their years of service.
A congratulatory resolution was also passed for Mayor Gatchalian, his fellow elected officials, and their continuing journey in public service.
“Congratulations to our newly elected officials of the City of Valenzuela. Long live to all of you, and long live the City of Valenzuela,” Gatchalian said.
