Malabon launches mobile hygiene services for vulnerable communities

The Malabon City government launched two units of mobile shower units under the Key Mobile Jeannie Services (KMJS) initiative on Monday, June 30, as part of the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) Preparedness Month.
Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, City Administrator Alexander Rosete, and DRRMO head Roderick Tongol led the launch, held along C4 Road in front of FisherMall-Malabon in Barangay Longos.
According to the DRRMO, the KMJS on Wheels aims to deliver free basic services directly to communities by deploying mobile units, making essential support more accessible—especially to vulnerable residents or areas with limited resources.
The initiative focuses on five core service areas, also known as the “5 Ls”: Laba (laundry), Linis (cleaning), Ligo (shower), Ligtas (safety), and Lusog (health).
To carry out the program, the city mobilized a fleet of specialized service vehicles, including mobile laundry units, shower trucks, water tankers and purifiers, a mobile kitchen providing free hot meals, a power washer for street sanitation, and charging stations for communities affected by power outages.
Maynilad’s mobile shower and water tankers were also deployed to support the city’s sanitation efforts.
In addition to these services, the program offers health and dental checkups, pet vaccinations, laboratory testing, X-rays through mobile clinics, HIV screening, and free medical consultations. Health education campaigns are also integrated into the service rollout.
Emergency response vehicles, including ambulances, fire trucks, and mobile patrols from the Malabon Police and Bureau of Fire Protection, were present to assist. Support also came from the Red Cross-Malabon, PhilHealth Konsulta Caravan, and the Malabon AHON Alert 24/7 application, which was promoted as a tool for real-time disaster response.
The mobile services will be brought to the city’s 21 barangays.
Malabuenos! Kasabay ng ating pagpapalakas ng mga programa ay ang ating pagsiguro na mas marami sa ating mga kababayan, at pati na rin ang kanilang mga alagang hayop, ang maging benepisyaryo ng mga ito (Malabueños! As we continue to strengthen our programs, we also aim to ensure that more of our fellow citizens—and even their beloved pets—benefit from them),” Sandoval said.
“Ito po ay bilang pasasalamat na rin sa inyong patuloy na tiwala at suporta. Kaya naman po mas sisikapin pa natin na palawakin at dagdagan ang mga programang para sa inyo (This is our way of expressing gratitude for your continued trust and support. That’s why we will work even harder to expand and enhance the programs we offer for all of you),” she added.
City Administrator Rosete emphasized the importance of accessibility and inter-agency collaboration in addressing basic needs and disaster preparedness.
We have partnered with various agencies and organizations to expand our programs and ensure that these initiatives, which we bring directly to the communities, will truly serve the needs of every Malabueño),” he said.
He also encouraged residents to take advantage of the mobile services offered in their areas.
Tongol said that beyond delivering services, the KMJS initiative promotes disaster readiness and public health awareness through interactive campaigns and on-site demonstrations.
He emphasized that the program not only addresses immediate needs but also helps build stronger, more resilient communities.
