ILOILO CITY – Sen. Loren Legarda and her brother, Rep. Antonio Agapito “AA” Legarda, vowed to give more service to the province of Antique.
“Antique has served as the foundation of my strength and determination. Amidst trials and triumphs, whether in the storms of nature or politics, the love for this province is what drives me to continue serving,” said Sen. Legarda on Monday, June 30, while administering the oath of key officials, including her brother, and Gov. Paolo Javier.
Sen. Legarda recalled how she chose to take her oath of office in Pandan – the hometown of her maternal grandfather – in 1998 when she first became a senator and not in Manila as she wanted the people of Antique to know what public service meant.
This was echoed by Rep. Legarda, who was reelected after replacing her in Congress in 2022.
“Because of her tireless advocacy and strong leadership, Antique remains a priority in the national agenda – receiving programs and projects that have changed countless lives. Her voice in the Senate has uplifted Antique in healthcare, education, tourism, livelihood, and disaster resilience,” said Rep. Legarda.
Under Sen. Legarda, big-ticket projects were brought to the province. These include major road networks, the new Antique Airport that is set to open soon, and the expansion of the University of the Philippines-Visayas.
