Eastern Visayas cops nab shooting suspect in 4 minutes
TACLOBAN CITY – Police caught a fish vendor for allegedly shooting a 68-year-old man in Barangay Narra, Catarman, Northern Samar, on Monday, June 30, and apprehended him in just four minutes.
Police Regional Office-8 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jay Cumigad lauded the four-minute response of the Catarman Municipal Police Station to the incident.
Investigation said Lando, 45, married, fish vendor, a resident of Barangay Baybay, Catarman, shot and wounded Aldo, 68, unemployed, of Barangay Narra during a heated argument with a caliber .38 revolver.
Aldo sustained bullet wounds in the left arm and right upper back.
The victim was taken to a provincial hospital.
Police apprehended the suspect in the crime scene. The firearm was recovered.
Cumigad said their quick response was a testament to their readiness and professionalism in responding to incidents aligned with the program and thrusts of PNP chief Police Gen. Nicolas Torre III toward a responsive and trusted police service.
“PRO-8 reiterates its commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining peace and order across Eastern Visayas.”
He said that appropriate charges will be filed against the suspect. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
