OPM balladeer Jed Madela is excited for his upcoming birthday concert dubbed 'Superhero', which will be staged at the Music Museum on July 5.

'One thing about this concert is that it allowed me to reflect on what had happened to me over the past year, and the people who were always there. It's just a celebration of gratitude,' said Jed when asked about his birthday show during a media conference at Coffee Project in Quezon City recently. Jed will celebrate his birthday on July 14.

On why the concert was entitled 'Superhero,' Jed said: 'We have superheroes around us. We look at them as our idols. But sometimes we forget our ultimate superhero: ourselves. Kung wala tayo, wala rin itong lahat. That's why I decided to name my concert Superhero.'

The singer added: 'One thing about this concert is that it allowed me to reflect on what had happened to me over the past year, and the people who were always there. It's just a celebration of gratitude.'

Jed, 47, shared his aspiration to collaborate with Filipino-American singer Bruno Mars.

'Collaborating with Bruno Mars would be a dream come true. However, even if it's not Western, it would still be an opportunity for collaboration with Asian artists,' he said.

But Jed said he would be open to collaborating with any artists for the right project.

'With collaboration, sometimes you will discover meron ka pa palang magagawa. That's my dream: to continue writing songs and share them with the world,' he said.

Music fans believe that Jed could be on Broadway because of his singing skills. He revealed that there was an offer for him to be on Broadway, but he decided to pursue a career in the Philippines instead.

'There was an offer before on Broadway after I won in WCOPA. I was starting then. Ayoko naman talikuran yung career ko rito. So I still believe there will be offers. I always get that comment na bagay daw talaga ang voice ko sa Broadway. Who knows? If there's a good project, we'll see,' he also said.

When he’s not immersed in the world of music, Jed reveals a deep passion for collecting and designing toys. With a gleam in his eye, he shares stories about his intricate creations and his carefully curated collection of rare and expensive toys, each one holding its unique history and charm.

'Siguro meron akong action figure toys na worth six figures. Hindi lang kasi sila toys. They are collectibles. Some of them are already museum pieces, which is why they're expensive,' Jed said. 'It's a good investment, but I don't plan to sell them. Every year, the value appreciates.'

Jed began collecting toys as a young boy, but it was only after he started earning money that his collection truly began.

'I've always loved toys since I was a kid. But my parents are so practical when it comes to toys. You have to work hard to buy something. When I started earning money, I splurged on toys,' he remarked.

Toys bring him a lot of happiness. 'These things make me happy. As long as it's my hard-earned money, there's nothing wrong with it. However, I always advise people to live within their means as long as it brings them happiness. Don't be afraid to make yourself happy.'
