Mamamayang Liberal (ML) representative-elect Leila de Lima said she will continue to stand for justice and reform, as well as for the welfare of the masses after she was once again acquitted over drug charges that were remanded by the Court of Appeals (CA) to a local court.
In a statement that came after the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch No. 204 cleared her of drug charges, De Lima said ''they were not able to stop us before, and they will not be able to stop us now,'' referring to those behind the case.
She even called the case the only case in the Philippines that needed another promulgation of judgment of acquittal from the judge when the CA Eighth Division voided the RTC's decision that acquitted her, along with his co-accused Ronnie, in May 2023 over charges filed under the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
''Vindicated numerous times, and yet they are relentless in trying to silence me,'' she said.
''But no matter how hard they try, they cannot erase the truth, or undo what has already been revealed in the light of justice,'' she added.
She said futher called her ordeal the most expensive frame-up in Philippine history.
