A Night to Remember for the 42K Race
The highlight of this year’s event was the highly anticipated 42-kilometer race, which commenced promptly at 1:00 a.m. from Liwasang Ulalim at the CCP Complex in Pasay City. Kenyan runner Glady Keeto dominated the field, leading from start to finish and set an impressive time of 2:20:03. Keeto’s performance surpassed last year’s winner, Filipino athlete Richard Salano, who clocked in at 2:25:42.
Keeto’s relentless pace not only earned him the top podium spot but also invigorated the crowd with his determinaon. His victory places him among the elite runners, although the longstanding record of 2:14:39 held by two-me Olympic champion Waldemar Cierpinski remains unbroken aer more than four decades.
International Success and Future Endeavors
The 2025 champion will be sent to the upcoming Dubai Internaonal Marathon, an opportunity that highlights the race’s role in fostering internaonal athlec exchanges. Furthermore, plans are already underway for next year’s 44th edion, which will send its top finisher to the Honolulu Internaonal Marathon, sponsored by Philippine Airlines, connuing the event’s tradion of global parcipaon.

Despite heavy rain showers that persisted throughout the race, runners displayed remarkable resilience and camaraderie, enjoying the refreshing downpour. Spectators and participants alike praised the event’s successful execution under challenging weather conditions, emphasizing the spirit of perseverance that defines marathons.
